visit_to_DARC

Our member Gian Carlo Giani IZ3NWK went to Passau from 29th to 31st of May 2009, in order to return the visit of the Chairman of the DARC Passau, Hans-Juergen Schott DK1RWS, to the A.R.I. Vicenza Station on the 12th of September 2008. IZ3NWK was welcomed with great friendliness from the local DARC Board, with which he was received from the 3d Burgomaster of the wonderful Danubian city, Dr. Anton Jungwirth, in the presence of the Chairman of the very active Italian-German Association, Detlef Spengler, of its Vice-Chairman Marianne Behrer, of the Vice Town Director for Culture, Rita Loher Bronold, and of the Post officer Martin Burkert. Dr. Jungwirth was very pleased with the twinning between the hams of Vicenza and of Passau, mentioning furthermore that Passau is happily twinned with Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza) from many years. IZ3NWK delivered then to DK1RWS a letter of our Chairman Claudio Zamunaro IK3ITS, in which he wished a happy continuation of the existing relation. Very interesting was the visit to the local DARC Station, excellently equipped with rigs and antennas, as one can see on the Station site www.darc-passau.de . It followed the dinner given from the Chairman Hans-Juergen DK1RWS at his fine house in the heart of the Bavarian Forest. IZ3NWK could admire his excellent rigs and the enviable antenna system, which are visible on his website, inserted in the Station site. DK1RWS is besides a QSO record holder, having worked 336 DXCC countries, all confirmed! At last one took leave, with the most cordial purpose of future radio contacts and with a sincere AUF WIEDERSEHEN! Here are some pictures of the unforgettable meeting (click the images to enlarge):
